UPDATE: It appears to be a file corruption issue due to network errors. I was finally able to download a non-corrupted installer for Designer, but still haven't been successful with Photo. I'll keep trying until I get it down successfully.

Original Post:

This is incredibly frustrating. I am trying to update my software to the latest versions on my Windows 10 PC. While I was able to update Publisher, I get the following errors with both Designer and Photo. First, Windows tells me that it has "protected my PC" from the software. I click "more info" and it says the Publisher is unknown. I click on "Run anyway," then get a second screen that tells me the app cannot run on my PC and I should check with the software publisher.

I am on Microsoft Windows 10 Home, Build 19042 and my system is up to date.

How do I resolve this issue, so that my software can be brought up to date? Any ideas?
Thank you in advance.

Hello @AcailawenArt and welcome to the forums.

You should check if there are defective or missing Windows system components or dotNET. To do so press Windows key + X and choose CMD (Administrator) from the list. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

It is likely your download of the programs was corrupt or incomplete. You can confirm this by right-clicking on the installer file in File Explorer and choosing Properties. One of the tabs in the Properties dialog should be labeled Digital Signatures.

If you don't have that tab, the downloaded file is incomplete or corrupted. You must download again.

If you have the tab, select it, then validate the digital signatures. If the do not validate, then the file is corrupt or incomplete, and you'll have to download again.

Thank you both for your replies.

It appears that it is file corruption issue due to network connection errors with the website. I downloaded both installers several times, but kept running into the same issue. I finally managed to get Designer to download correctly and was just able to update it, but I am having no luck with Photo. I am now getting a "failed - network error" issue trying to download it. I will try again later to see if the issue resolves itself.

Thank you again for the assistance! Much appreciated. 😊

You're welcome.

You might also try a different browser, or a different computer.
