catlover Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 I'm running OSX Big Sur 11.6.1 The mouse disappears briefly upon each startup of AffPhoto and the beachball appears for a second or two. Once Photo has started up, the mouse re-appears and the beachball disappears. This does not happen when starting up Designer. However, it also happens that the mouse does not make a comeback which means that I have to shutdown Photo without use of the mouse which frankly, with Mac is a pain in the whatsit. Then I have to startup Photo again. Could anyone shed any light on this behaviour ? Thanks, C.L. Screen Recording 2021-11-19 at 17.21.44.mov Quote

If you are talking about the spinning pinwheel, that is the Mac spinning wait cursor used to indicate that the Mac is busy doing something & cannot respond to mouse clicks. As long as it goes away quickly & is replaced by the usual mouse cursor, it is nothing to worry about. catlover Posted November 21, 2021 Author Posted November 21, 2021 Thanks, RC-R. I'm not worried about the mouse reappearing, but I am worried when the mouse does not make a comeback. To me, that indicates something might be amiss with the OS. It's a genuine Apple bluetooth mouse, so I'm wondering if something in the startup sequence of Photo in conjunction with Big Sur interferes with Bluetooth. Or, whether Big Sur is the culprit - I'm not at all happy with Big Sur - but that's beside the point. As I said, it does not happen with Designer, nor with any of the other programs I have installed. Do you happen to know if there's any "startup" report made in the background and where that would be saved to ? Thanks, C.L. Quote
