Albo Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Hello, Everytime I start AFD or AFPHO I need to reload my custom preferences. How do I keep them active without the need of reloading them everytime ? Thanks. Quote Mac Studio M1
walt.farrell Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Which preferences are you referring to? And which OS do you use? The application Preferences (e.g., from Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Affinity Designer > Preferences (Mac)) should be remembered if you successfully close the application after setting them. The Studio panel layouts should also be automatically remembered when you successfully close the application. Albo Posted November 18, 2021 Author Posted November 18, 2021 AFD > Preferences (Mac) I set my preferences and saved them. I then work. Close the app and when I restart I have to reload them. I saved my preferences in a folder. Maybe this is the reason ? Quote Mac Studio M1

The application does not give me any option for where to save them (on Windows). I just Close the Preferences dialog and they are saved automatically. So, you're not talking about Preferences in general, but specifically about Keyboard Shortcuts? The Keyboard Shortcuts you establish should be saved automatically when you Close the Preferences dialog, and Close the application. That should not be related in any way to where you Save/Load a keyboard shortcuts file from, as far as I know. Old Bruce Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 I have done the same as you, I saved the keyboard shortcuts in a folder in my documents folder here on Mac. I have never had to "Reload" them. The shortcuts I make remain active all the time through various updates of the Designer, Photo and Publisher. Not to mention quitting the applications and restarting the computer over months and months. Once you have set custom shortcuts they get saved in the apps pref folder (regardless of being saved additionally via the button). ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Designer/shortcuts.affshortcuts Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
Albo Posted November 18, 2021 Author Posted November 18, 2021 Thank you all. Yes. Should have mentioned keyboard shortcuts! Quote Once you have set custom shortcuts they get saved in the apps pref folder (regardless of being saved additionally via the button). Strange that I have to reload. I will remove them and start from scratch and see what happens. Quote Mac Studio M1
Old Bruce Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Where are you saving them? As I said I saved mine to a folder in my Documents Folder, not the "~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Designer/shortcuts.affshortcuts" location. Albo Posted November 18, 2021 Author Posted November 18, 2021 Ok. Everything works fine. I was making the wrong assumption that I needed to save the preferences. If I simply modify them and close the window then everything is fine. I can save them if I need a specific workflow with shortcuts. Also had a few preferences file in the folder I created so I trashed those to start fresh. Quote Mac Studio M1
