Noob007 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 I'm dreading Affinity now. I can't seem to accomplish anything with so many of these problems. Just trying to get rid of the spacing above the text so it just goes in the darn text box. I've decreased spacing, and vertical aligned wherever possible. Please help. Thank you. Quote

Noob007 Posted November 17, 2021 Author Posted November 17, 2021 @RM f/g, I don't see an option to "Reply," only to reply to the topic, so hopefully this reaches you. I do have an inset for text frame, but I have it set to zero, and still no luck. Thank you. Quote

At the bottom of any post, you should see a Quote option. Or, you can select a piece of text from a post, and you should get an option to Quote just that text. Also, to "tag" a user: First type an @ sign. Then start typing the user's username. You'll get a pulldown list of users who match what you've typed. When it's narrowed down enough that you can see the name you want, click on it or arrow down to select it. You should end up with a highlighted field like this: @Noob007 Noob007 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. walt.farrell Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 That text frame has the "Use Baseline Grid" option selected in the Text Frame panel, and has the grid set to 40 pt. If you turn that option off, or set the grid spacing to a more reasonable value, you'll have better results. You'll also want to change the start position of the grid in the Text Frame if you have that option enabled. Right now it's set to 0pt from the top of the frame, which puts the baseline of the first row of text on top of the frame. You probably want some positive value, e.g., 12 pt if you want a 12 pt grid. Edit: this is part of it. See next post. walt.farrell Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 However, if you turn off the "Use Baseline Grid" for that text frame, the text ends up before (on top of) the text frame. I do not yet understand that. Noob007 Posted November 17, 2021 Author Posted November 17, 2021 @walt.farrell @RM f/g Both you guys nailed it! I did the "Positioning and Transform" before, but because my "Baseline Grid" in the "Text frame" was 40 pt, it didn't budge. Thank you very much, guys. Feels good not just to have it solved, but to understand. Have a great night! walt.farrell and Callum 2 Quote
