Picture Frame Tool for Designer

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

something to consider: the awesome picture frame tool from Publisher, in Designer. Why?

Website mockups, for exaple. Which, I find, work way better in Designer, because of Artboards. Unfortunately, handling (dummy) images is a little tedious, and the picture frame tool from Publisher would help a lot.

Thanks for listening, cheers,

Marin

While you're waiting for Picture Frames in Designer, and in case you haven't noticed: you can already use Artboards in Publisher. There are two ways:

  1. Start the document in Designer and then use File > Edit in Publisher.
  2. Create the document in Publisher, using File > New from the Designer Persona. This gives you the opportunity to set three critical settings. First, set Default Master Page off. Next, set the number of pages to 1. Finally, set Create Artboard on. You will then end up with an Artboard-based document. You could even save this as a Preset or Template to simply creating future Artboard-based documents in Publisher (though you will still have to do so from the Designer Persona).

You can even create the document in the Publisher persona.  Just make sure "Default master" is turned off and there is only one page, then you can drag out whatever artboards you want using the artboard tool in the Designer persona - they will replace the "page" that is present, as long as there is only one in the document (and no masters).

Or for basic Frame capabilities add a Publisher frame to your assets panel in Designer
