Intuos5 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 The Affinity suite would benefit from having mouse and keyboard configurable command invocations. The example shown below is from Krita, where you can assign the appropriate input for pan, zoom and canvas rotation (both in terms of mouse and keyboard combinations) in addition to keyboard shortcuts. This for instance allows for assigning "space + left mouse button", "right mouse button" or "middle mouse button" for panning, whereas "ctrl + middle mouse button", "ctrl + space + middle mouse button", "the mouse wheel" or "ctrl + mouse wheel" can be set for zooming, thus covering all possible paradigms for the ways users may want to interact with the software. In addition, it could open the way for invoking subtools within a main tool. For instance, when using a brush to draw, one could configure it so that holding a modifier key or any other alphanumerical key, gives temporary access to the line tool, or the eraser. This is really powerful, since it only requires one button press as input to use two tools, as opposed to pressing one button for the eraser and then another to return to the brush, which breaks the flow. Besides, muscle memory from other software can be retained as, for instance, users familiar with 3D software may be able to set their 3D navigation hotkeys for rotation to rotating the canvas, which would make working with the Affinity suite very intuitive.
