SKE Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Hello, I have been observing for some time that Affinity is already getting performance drops with a few open files. I have a 12 core AMD CPU of the new generation and 64GB of RAM which still don't seem to be enough. At the moment I can only have 7 RAW files open and edit at the same time. This is for product photos that can be next to each other in the strip, but it is necessary that I can adjust them at the same time in the attributes. The size of the project files is also astronomical compared to Photoshop. It seems to be a general thing and nothing version specific. Do I have to make any settings to optimize it? Quote
Dan C Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Hi @SKE, Welcome to the Affinity Forums On 11/14/2021 at 5:28 PM, SKE said: At the moment I can only have 7 RAW files open and edit at the same time. Developing RAW files is a rather intensive process that requires more resources than you might think, usually we recommend maxing out around 3-5 RAW files at once however we can certainly look into this for you. Can you please navigate to Edit > Preferences > Performance and provide a screenshot of your settings here for me please? Many thanks in advance! Quote

Dan C Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Many thanks for the screenshot provided! Please try changing the following settings: RAM Usage Limit - 64512MB View Quality - Nearest Neighbour Retina Rendering - Low Quality (fastest) Hardware Acceleration - Disable this option Restart the Affinity app as prompted after changing these settings, then try loading/developing your RAW files once again. Does this provide any better performance please? SKE 1 Quote
