Is there a way to edit a Placed photo image object within Designer, kind of the way Adobe or Coreldraw does.  Right click on the object, menu popup, "Edit With <photo app>" etc.     I tried to use the "File" Edit in Photo", but that brings up the entire artboard in a low res view.  Not the image object.  Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Bob

In part it may depend on what kind of Placed file you have. "Image" is not very specific, and some people use that term for any kind of document that happens to look like a photographic image, even if it's a PSD or PDF or .afphoto file rather than a PNG, JPG, or TIFF.

And in part it may depend on whether you've Placed it Embedded or Linked.

So, more details, please.

Affinity Designer has an own "Pixel Persona" for bitmap/raster image manipulations, though it offers only a limited/stripped down functionality in contrast to what Affinity Photo offers here. You can work on pixel layers with that one. - Note that placed images in Designer usually appear as "image layers" which are indicated by (image) in the layers panel, since those are embedded image files then. Thus you would first have to double click on such placed in files, in order to open them for performing some bitmap/pixel manipulations.

That should usually start Affinity Photo and take over the selected image layer (image), as far as the layer was selected before.
