Embedded Image transparency changes colour at print

Hi, I have an embedded image which is a vector from the stock tab, When it is an embedded image on the page it changes the colour of the transparent background at the printer. in the uploaded pictures I have what it is on screen with the embedded on the left and then the printed result.

 

The box isn't the flowers box, it is the curves actual bounds.

What colour space and profile is the embedded document?

What colour space and profile is the container document?

What print settings did you use?

Hi, sorry, I didn't get a notification saying anyone had replied.

I'm just using the default settings as far as colour space etc, we were having this problem with some logos that I didn't want to post so I recreated it using stock pictures.

It's from the stock images tab, they are from pixabay.

I have just recreated it again. It seems everything is fine until I add the grey background.

A bit of a long shot but in the print dialogue window under either Properties or Rasterization is there a Print Quality setting that gives you the choice between Vector and Raster and if there is, is it currently set to Raster? Should that happen to be the case then try changing the setting to vector to see if it fixes the issue...

Hmm, there doesn't seem to be a vector option... But! 'Rasterize entire page' seems to fix the problem and the grey that gets printed is the better of the two different printed ones.

So it doesn't fix the problem but is a good work around.

This is a version of the file, it's easy to recreate so I haven't been saving the files.

I kind of assume deselecting the rasterize entire page in effect means that the information is then being sent to the printer as vectors, despite there not being a specific vector checkbox...

Well, at least that is progress... I assume there's nothing under the Printer Properties option relating to this? Could you let us know which particular RIOCH printer you are printing to using the RIOCH PS Universal Driver V4.32 and also which paper stock you are printing on?

I downloaded the sample Pixabay images and followed the same process as your original posting and printing to my Epson SC-P600 there are no issues which leads me to believe it is Print Driver specific, hence the Raster/Vector suggestion...

I am suspecting that this will be some problem with an Adobe Illustrator file exported to PDF or EPS or SVG with a bunch of code only Adobe Illustrator can read.

If you take a look at the stock images tab and search e.g., for rose whilst ticking the vector box, it's the tenth file in and is a very simple vector image made up of basic curves which gets embedded as an SVG file.

I don't believe so, the file couldn't be simpler...

It appears in the main to be a Print Driver issue (see previous posts)...

It appears to be the Minimum Content area which is giving trouble. That is why I asked again.

The rose is an embedded doc with transparency and the gray rect below that seems not to be handled correctly here in terms of graylevels by the printer then, or it's printer driver. - The SVG code itself shown above looks pretty normal and there is nothing problematic inside at all.

It's a RICOH MP C6503. And to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if the driver is the problem. That has been an absolute pain to sort.

Yes, the rose file transparent area is a lot bigger than the affected area

Yeah, if i copy the curves out of the embedded doc and paste them straight onto the file being printed, it doesn't happen.

I actually have another Driver installed that doesn't use the post script... Could that maybe affect it? And I will try printing with that one now...

I checked it with a PostScript printer and had no problems so it's not a blanket issue for that type of printer.

It is an odd one, a bug somewhere I guess.

yes and the problem is still there, slightly less noticeable but still there. The driver has got the option of vector or raster and it is vector that messes up, Raster is fine.

Yeah, I think I will purge all of the drivers from my system and reinstall them. Hopefully that may fix the issue
