Gess
My manuscript was prepared in Apple Pages and is ready to be placed into Affinity Publishers. I have inserted placeholder in the .Pages manuscript file where the photos will go. Problem is, I don't know where or when to insert the photos. Do I include them in the .Pages file before saving as a .PDF file? or do I flow the content, a page at a time, into Affinity Publisher and insuring that each page is formatted correctly after? or is there a more efficient way? I want to use most of the features of manipulating the photos.
thomaso
The "best" workflow may be a matter of favor and skills, why not trying both methods with a few sample pages to see how it feels & works. I assume exporting the .pages document + opening the resulting PDF in APub would be an efficient way. The advantage of opening instead of placing the PDF in APub is that it will enable you to edit the layout. Also, opening creates an .afpub with all pages – different to placing, where you need to create pages in .afpub and select the PDF page # of the placed PDF on every .afpub page. If you want to use the photo manipulation features there I don't see an advantage to place the images in the .Pages layout already, especially if you have created placeholders already. But it may be worth to try first what happens with the placeholders in APub, for instance whether you can use them to place the images in APub or you would need to delete every placeholder first. Alternatively to open an exported PDF: If you have all the text as one file (btw. as copyable selection), you can also use the auto-flow option with APub's text frames and either place or paste the text. It will create all the necessary pages and text frames according to the layout and text style(s) you set in APub.
