Move photos inside image frame using keyboard?

Recommended Posts

v 1.10.3 Windows

Hope I'm not asking too many question here, but is there any way to use the keyboard keys to move an image inside a picture frame?

Seems no matter whether I select the picture with one click or double-click the picture so the image is actually selected, the keyboard arrows only move the frame. Would love the ability to precisely position the image like this because using the alt-click method brings up a magnifier unless you first click and slightly move the image. That sometimes jerks it to one side before the alt-move operation takes hold.

If you double-click with the black arrow cursor (Move Tool) in the picture frame but outside its gray 4-arrow circle then you get the nested resource layer selected and the picture frame deselected.

Or you just click in the layers panel on the resource layer to select only the nested item (without its picture frame).

Now you can move the nested resource with either the arrow keyboard keys or numerically by entering values in the Transform Panel.

Thanks, but I'm still getting the frame selected whether I click outside the 4 arrows or not. Also tried from the Layers panel. (see pic.)

Your layers panel indicates that the JPG is selected, not its Picture Frame. Also, comparing the two layer thumbnails it appears that the frame is slightly cropping the image (compare upper left corner), which would correspond to the object bounding box in your layout page view.

To make it more clear / less ambiguous assign a stroke color to the picture frame.

To move the image – with cursor or arrow keys – the image layer has to appear selected in the Layers Panel.

If the keyboard arrows move the Picture Frame then the Picture Frame has been selected. It will move both, Picture Frame + image.
If the Picture Frame moves without moving the image the option "Lock Children" has been activated.
