Not sure if it's a bug, Affinity Photo keeps deselecting the current layer I'm working on,

Not sure if it's a bug, Affinity Photo keeps deselecting the current layer I'm working on, as a result none of the layers are selected preventing me from further editing until I reselect the layer from the layer panel.

Follow these steps to reproduce it (see attached clip)

• select a layer from the layer panel
• marque select an area that has pixels
• tap outside the marque area

Once you have finished your marquee selection the Move Tool is immediately selected, rather than the Marquee Selection Tool still being active. That’s a little odd but may just be a setting in Preferences and have nothing to do with it.

I think what may be happening is that you are clicking on a transparent area of the layer and that action is de-selecting the layer.
Can you try clicking on a non-transparent part of the layer and see what happens?

Tried clicking on a non-transparent part outside the marque selection, still the same. 

I don't think there should be a state where none of the layers are selected, that's why I think it's a bug.

Not what I'm finding. The Selection tool (marque, ellipse, ect.) stay selected. You have to manually change to another tool, like the move tool for the selection to not be deselected.

I looked at the History Panel while doing this, and it lists this action of tapping or clicking outside the selection as Deselect. It matters not if New or Add is selected as the mode of selecting. However if you click-drag then it is not deselected. I don't know if it is a bug or as designed.

The selection tool should remain active. If you click outside the selection then it should deselect the selection. I'm not sure why it's switching to the Move Tool after you finish the selection. That's the only weird behavior I'm seeing in your clip but I wasn't able to reproduce it yet. Does it do the same if you try this with a new document?

Hi, I don't mind the selection tool deselecting when clicking outside its regoin, i don't understand why the entire layer is deselected (see layer panel) , and no other layer is selected instead, check the end of the clip I attached.
