Graylien
Hi, I just cannot seem to get the Clone tool to work at all in Photo 1.10.3 on my iMac running Big Sur 11.6. The source point just will not lock in with the Option key a mouse click. I have tried creating a new layer and selecting Current Layer and Below for the tool to work on but that won't work either. I am most definitely NOT a power user but have watched the Cloning tutorial and am following the directions there but with zero effect! Help please! JSpaans
I also have this problem. Affinity ver. 1.7.3.481 on a Windows 10 machine. I also watched and followed the tutorial. Tried a new pixel layer as well.
R C-R
Make sure you have a pixel layer selected in the Layers panel. Since it is the Clone Brush tool, make sure you are using a suitable brush, like a simple round one. Make sure the brush Width, Opacity, Flow, & Hardness settings on the context toolbar are what you want, usually close to 100% for the latter three. If none of these things help, maybe attach an example file to a reply showing how the document is set up. If you're unsure how to take a screen recording, please see the following link - Many thanks in advance!
Graylien
Guys Thanks for offering to help. As I said - I am a newbie to using Photo so couldn't get my head around it a bit. I noticed the Opacity was set at 0% - derr!! - so re-set it to 100% and all works fine now. Thanks for your help. Halfwit of Wiltshire! jmwellborn
Welcome to the forums @Graylien🙂 You are not a halfwit. You are a new wit. There is so much that Photo can do that it is staggering, at the very first. To wit: I couldn’t figure out why the Erase Brush Tool was making all those odd squiggles instead of simply neatly erasing part of some unwanted clouds. Eureka! “It is a brush tool, simpleton” I said to myself, after floundering to no avail. “So find a simple brush.” Do ask away instead of struggling. There are many very professional people on these forums who have helped me again and again. They will be there for you too!
