DEF13
Hi, Since I've done the last upgrade of Affinity Photo, I've constate lots of glitch when I zoom in/out in a picture. Actually, the only solution is to downgrade to restore a perfecte working condition … There is also issues with the layer tab. Layers appears and disappears randomly (it looks a refresh data issue). glitch-H264-30Mbps.mp4 User_783649 1 Quote CB Visual Design Artistic Director | Graphic Designer | Studio PhotographerBehance : https://www.behance.net/FRANCOIS79e1 Flikr : https://www.flickr.com/photos/def13_marseille/ Linkedin : https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=AAIAABpT9VoBqrysY5JsJxJIOdrcF9Arpa6J45I&trk=nav_responsive_tab_profile

howdytom
@DEF13 Thanks for bringing this up. I have experiencing the same issue on macOS Mojave and Affinity Photo 1.10.3. DEF13
User_783649
I'm experiencing the same problem with visible square tiles flickering during zooming in and out in all three Affinity products (both 1.10.1 and 1.10.3). I'm wondering if it's a normal behavior of Affinity screen rendering engine or we're currently seeing something that we shouldn't see and screen content should refresh much quicker and smoother without those tiles showing all around? howdytom
howdytom
@Alex M Yes, It's happening in Affinity Photo 1.10.1 too. User_783649
DEF13
There's no issue for me with MacOS 11.6 on my MBP + Affinity Photo 1.10.1 (except the terribly long first Affinity's softwares startup since I'm on Big Sur) Quote CB Visual Design Artistic Director | Graphic Designer | Studio PhotographerBehance : https://www.behance.net/FRANCOIS79e1 Flikr : https://www.flickr.com/photos/def13_marseille/ Linkedin : https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=AAIAABpT9VoBqrysY5JsJxJIOdrcF9Arpa6J45I&trk=nav_responsive_tab_profile

howdytom
@Patrick Connor Wow. That is an impressive bugfix speed! Thank you! I have upgraded to 1.10.4. I'm sorry to confirm that the glitch effect while zoom in/out still shows up. It is happening randomly on white background, type faces, embedded PNGs or rectangle color boxes. Update: It is occurring with Live Filter Layers. I have applied a Unsharp Mask filter to an image. When I disable the Live Filter, everything looks good. Are you able to reproduce this? When I add a new curve layer and zoom in and out 10 times, everything looks good. However next time the glitch shows up again. We've been trying all morning on a plethora of devices however we haven't been able to reproduce this yet. We're struggling to find similar hardware. Today, The glitch occurred when I applied a gaussian blur to pixel layer. It was impossible to guess the modification. Disabling metal acceleration will prevent those glitches, though. Anything else I can do? Is it a graphic card issue?

howdytom
@Dan C Thanks, I am sorry to confirm the same issue with Affinity Photo Customer Beta (1.10.5.270). Metal acceleration is enabled. Glitches show up with and without "Preserve alpha" settings enabled.
User_783649
So tired to see these "checkmates" artefacts everywhere. Every layer movement, every change causes the canvas to glitch in this absolutely inappropriate way. These visible tiles are part of Affinity canvas rendering pipeline. They can't get rid of that because it's computationally faster to redraw canvas in this way. I wrote about it multiple times here on forums. I don't want to see it at all. Tiles should be synced, composited together before drawing them on a canvas. Put them together, composite them, before calling final frame draw event. I've never seen such artefacts in Photoshop. Screen redrawing is much better and smoother. For me it all looks, like: "we don't care how you want your meal, sir. we'll be just throwing ingredients at your table as fast as we can now. so you can start eating something faster." Some people just accept the current state of things. Some of them don't notice anything at all. Some are trying to highlight certain issues, as we do. howdytom
Quick update on this issue: It turned out this glitch effect was caused by a dying Radeon graphic card. I have replaced the AMD Radeon HD 7950 with the exact same model. Now, random glitches are gone! Hope this helps... Dan C
