dmstraker
Using the Blur Brush, the preview under the cursor is the checkerboard when Transparent Background and white otherwise. Should this not show the proposed blur? Truthseeker10
I’ve been seeing this, too, but on the Mac version. (In Affinity Photo version 1.10.1) it’s a pain. dmstraker
NotMyFault
This is the spell of the wandering ghost from a Metal/OpenGL software engineer who was not cheered enough by the users. When busted from one tool or OS, it always re-occurs at anther place. BTW: Cannot reproduce. May need to give more specific frame conditions and a test image. Update: After some random edits of a file, i have the same issue, and much more severe issues, reported as separate post. Staff MEB Posted October 26, 2021 Staff Share Posted October 26, 2021 Hi @dmstraker, This is a known issue that's already logged to be looked at. It also affects a couple other tools (Sharpen and Median Brush). You can turn the brush preview off in Preferences to workaround the issue until the bug is fixed. Thanks for your report. dmstraker 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
rseals
The problem isn’t the preview, it’s that the blur just doesn’t work. The checkerboard preview is actually helpful in letting the user know the tool won’t be doing anything. But of course it would be much nicer if the took actually worked. Glad to know it’s a known issue…hope it gets fixed soon.
Staff MEB Posted August 11, 2022 Staff Share Posted August 11, 2022 Hi @rseals, The Blur Tool does work but the effect is very subtle if you have hardware acceleration turned on (this is also logged with the dev team). The Blur brush preview should display the underlying area blurred as if the blur were already applied so you can see what you get even before "painting" the blur effect, not a transparent/empty area. I will make sure both issues are bumped up to bring them up to devs attention again. Thank for your feedback.
