tudor
If I'm not mistaken, Affinity Designer has no option for displaying the special characters in text. Nevertheless, on my computer they are displayed, even in new files. Why is this happening and why can't I turn them off without opening the file in Publisher? Staff Callum Posted October 20, 2021 Staff Share Posted October 20, 2021 Hi Tudor, This will be happening because you have either used File > Edit in Designer with the file open in Publisher or the file was a .afpub document which you opened in Designer. The only way to turn this off at the moment is in Publisher as this wasn't a feature we felt was needed in a vector/raster design application. Considering that users who do not own APub may still open docs created in that app, for example from forum downloads, I think it would be a good idea if in AD or AP there was some way to hide the special characters, even if there was no way to unhide them, like maybe via the Revert Defaults command or the like. The .afdesign file was a brand new one. In all new files created in Designer, the special characters are being displayed now. It looks like somehow Publisher enabled this option for Designer files too. 23 hours ago, Callum said: this wasn't a feature we felt was needed in a vector/raster design application Showing/hiding the special characters is definitely needed in Designer. I ofter do one-page documents in Designer and I need to see the special characters. But I'd also like to be able to hide them. For now I can do this in Publisher, which is fine too. shallum802
Hi I have the same problem in affinity photo how do I turn them off? I can turn it off using publisher, but when I open a new document in affinity photo, the special characters are still there. If you can turn them off in APub & then you save the file, they should remain off in AP.
