Blur filter radius capped at 100px, platform discrepancy

Recommended Posts

Hi,

The Desktop versions allow to set radius above 100px for Gaussian blur filters.

The IPad Version of Photo caps the numeric value at 100px, even for existing layers with larger radius.

radius values lead to performance issues.

Hi @NotMyFault,

Thanks for your report!

I believe this may be a limit set for performance reasons on the iPad - however if you are opening a 'desktop' document, I would also expect the correct value to be retained.

Therefore I will be logging this with our devs now, I hope this helps :)

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

Totally understandable from the historic point of view. Nowadays M1 iPads are far more powerful than the majority of Windows Laptops / Desktops, and on par with M1 based Laptops / Desktops. Even in 2018 my IpadPro 10.5 was already faster (and is still faster) then my current PC when using Photo (e.g. opening Tone Map Persona for a vanilla 24 Mpx image), except when the bigger RAM starts to be a factor.
