BeauRX
To escape the MAS sandbox, I have “upgraded” Affinity Photo from the MAS version of to the Affinity Store version. Wondering if anyone knows what happens when the next MAS release is available? Does it automatically install side-by-side or overwrite the Affinity Store version again? There is no option to "un-buy" in the MAS store, and the MAS Preferences only provides a global option [Automatic Updates: App Store will download and install app updates automatically.] which I don’t want to turn off for all my apps. Try opening the MAS app from the Apple menu, clicking on Preferences in the App Store menu, & deselecting the automatic update options. Old Bruce
Are you wanting to have only the Serif version on your Mac? Delete the Mac App Store version. The Mac App Store will not be able to update an absent application. I am not sure that is true because the MAS could just download the full version -- in fact, I think that is what it always does. markw
Once an unwanted app is removed from one’s Mac, that app will then show a download symbol next to it in their MAS account. But it’s up to the user to initiate it’s re-download, if desired. In addition any unwanted MAS apps can also be hidden from view in ones account to keep things tidy and not cluttered with old unwanted apps. markw
Yes, even with auto update On, it won't automatically re-download a previously deleted app. Quote macOS 10.15.7 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M
BeauRX
Thanks all, good to know. Coming to Mac from Windows so I don't know all the install ins-outs yet and did not want settings wiped out while sleeping soundly.
