Cant type on one of two linked text frames, only in one of them.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I'm trying to set up a book for formatting. I linked the text boxes on my Master Pages so all of my pages would be linked. Now I'm trying to label some pages that I have to type out and aren't on the manuscript, copyright page on the left and author note on the right. It won't let me type on the right text frame, no matter how or how many times I click it, when I type the text shows up on the left text frame.

I tried typing with the text frames unlinked, and it works, but then I link them and the text on the right gets moved to the left. Do I really need to press enter a million times to type on the right text frame?

Thanks in advance, its my first time using Affinity Publisher, I am more used to InDesign.

The text on a set of linked frames will be in the first frame of the set, until it overflows into the next frame. You can force an overflow by inserting a Frame Break character. Try  (from memory, but should be close) Text > Insert > Breaks > Frame Break.

I would use the option of having None as the applied Master page for those two pages and draw my own unlinked text frames on them. Or I would select the Mater Page on the Layers Panel and right click on it and choose Edit Detached to unlink or delete the text frames on those two pages. I use the Master pages on the pages I want the text frames linked. Other pages I would either use a different Master Page or I would have None applied and just build the stuff on the Actual Page.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
