Printing a 7x5 aspect image is offset on 7x5 photo paper

Recommended Posts

New Affinity user running purchased copy of Affinity Photo 1.10.1.1142.

Prior to printing, I resized the image to 7x5 aspect and set the document size to 7x5 inches at 300 dpi.

When I print the image as borderless on 7x5 inch photo paper, the image is not centered on the paper.  It is offset 3/16" up so the top of the head is cropped and there is a 3/16" white border at the bottom.  Also, the printout is offset toward the left so there is a 1/32" white border on the right and the left side of the image is cropped slightly.

I'm using a Canon TS9020 inkjet printer, with photo paper glossy II.

Using the same image in Photoshop 7, I resized the image to 7x5 aspect and set the document size to 7x5 inches at 300 dpi.  It prints borderless perfectly on the same printer using 7x5 inch photo paper.

How can I correct the printing in Affinity Photo?

The problem is known and in my opinion currently only solved in the current Affinity Publisher beta - see link below:

  • Placed .afphoto documents can cause redraw issues
  • PDF Passthrough could crash when rendering entire placed document
  • Positioning pins should not find frames that are not editable
  • Hyperlinks with 'MailTo' fail to export when containing a space
  • Issues with borderless printing
  • Miscellaneous stability updates arising from specific cases

Simply print the image in the Publisher!

Thanks for that info and link.

I don't need to print borderless using Publisher since I can print borderless using Photoshop or Faststone Image Viewer.  But I wanted to be able to print directly from Affinity Photo when I finish editing a photo using it.  Printing using another program defeats the convenience of doing it directly in Affinity Photo.  Mind boggling that a software as sophisticated as Affinity Photo has not resolved correct borderless printing "for years".

Thanks again.
