Tony_RCV
This is probably a silly question to which I think I know the answer - but I need my Affinity apps for work and don't want any problems, so here we go: My Win 10 PC only has a small C: drive and I've now opted to install my Affinity products on Drive D: which takes 3.07GB on that drive which is fine. However, I still have Affinity products on C: from older installations which take up 2.39 GB in C:\ProgramData\Roaming\Affinity. Can I delete these C: drive files and still run everything ok? gabriel_komorov
No matter where you install C:\ProgramData\Roaming\Affinity will be used to store, well... program data. That is user prefernces, temp files etc.
Staff stokerg Posted October 11, 2021 Staff Share Posted October 11, 2021 Hi @Tony_RCVand Welcome to the Forums, I just wanted to Welcome you to the Forums and also let you know that what @gabriel_komorovhas said is correct. Affinity will always use the C drive for its temp files and it's not something we can currently change, but it has been requested a number of times so might be something that is introduced in a future build. Tony_RCV
Ok thanks all for quick responses. As suspected, I'm stuck with finding space elsewhere. And yes - I would very much welcome the option to put these working files on another drive whenever this can be implemented. T
NotMyFault
On Windows, you can use ntfs junctions to store a folder on a different drive. This is transparent to all apps, and does not require any support by the app. I use this regularly to move large folders to a larger drive, e.g iTunes Backups. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/junction All drives involved should use ntfs to avoid issues. Size reports could mislead as most file manager won’t check for junctions, you may get 2 TG used from 1B. In addition, you can move the user profile folder. Photo stores autosave files there, and this folder can grow like crazy, and needs manual cleanup. Use a tool like treesizefree to check what occupies your disks. stokerg 1 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | Windows 10 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.
