Publisher: Accidental Mis-alignment of Columns

Recommended Posts

I need help with a mysterious problem. Somehow I accidentally hit a key combination while editing and all of a sudden my text frames shifted from being aligned to the inside margin to being aligned to the outside margin. The shifting did not go backwards in the document--that is, the text frames shifted only on pages from the current page forward. All backward pages remained OK. Here is what the page layout was and how it is supposed to be:Before.PNG.a593f283be7e3e397d63df2430d81b8b.PNG

After the shift occurred, this is what the pages looked like:

After.PNG.383dcdd4b6402f886e16c3a2c2ba6afe.PNG

I can easily drag them back when I am editing the text, but we are talking about hundreds of pages here. Two questions:

  • Can anyone think what key sequence I accidentally hit that would cause this to occur?
  • Can anyone suggest an automated repair?

Running Publisher version 1.10.1.1142 on Windows 10.

Thank you for your help.

Dave

It looks as though you have removed a spread. One with the same master page applied and one with a different master (or no master) page applied.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.2
Affinity Designer 2.3.1 | Affinity Photo 2.3.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.3.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Thank you, Old Bruce, for offering your suggestion. However, that doesn't seem to be the case. I checked all Masters (one for each chapter); they are all the same, and none of them would shift the text frames. On a page on which the frames had shifted I applied the original Master; no change. I experimented with the Clear and Migrate options when applying a different Master; no change.

I'm curious, What would be the circumstances in which applying a new Master would move existing text frames on a page? Maybe I'm missing something.

If you remove a single page (let us say left) then the right hand pages move to the left, and their margins are not the same as the left side all the left pages move to the right and their margins are wrong too.

Bingo! I remember at one point adding just one page to add a chart--which was not a smart thing to do. Thank you very much, Old Bruce, for your help.
