Apple ProRAW problem in DNG (Split/Moved)

Recommended Posts

Affinity Photo (1.10.1) on my MacBook Pro (macOS 10.14.5 Mojave) will not properly render Apple Pro RAW DNG files taken with my iPhone 12 Pro (iOS 14.8).  Attached is an example.   While the image is readily and correctly rendered on my iPhone, the same DNG file is not properly rendered by laptop's Apple Photos and Apple Preview applications, although the file icon is okay under File Finder.   Any idea what the malfunction cause might be?

@sbishop58

Welcome to the Affinity forums.

You've posted your question to the forum for Affinity products on iPad.  I think you might receive rather more helpful replies if you repost to the forum for the products on MAC Desktop.

Long-time user of Serif products, chiefly PagePlus and PhotoPlus, but also WebPlus, CraftArtistProfessional and DrawPlus.  Delighted to be using Affinity Designer, Photo, and now Publisher, version 1 and now version 2.

iPad Pro (12.9") (iOS 17.4) running Affinity Photo and Designer version 1 and all three version 2 apps.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @sbishop58.

I see that your post is now in the desktop questions forum, as suggested above, so probably a moderator moved it.

Just to clarify, are you saying that all the applications (Photos, Preview, and Affinity Photo) on your Mac have this problem?

I can't say for sure but I suspect the problem is Mojave (v.10.14.5 released May of 2019, & the later & last v.10.14.6 released in July of 2019) doesn't support the Apple Pro RAW image format, introduced (I think) in late 2020 for the iPhone 12 Pro models.
