Publisher Beta - 1.10.2.1167 - помилка редагування фотографій

Recommended Posts

I work in publisher and edit photo in Photo Persona. (Edit image---> Photo Persona ....)

I got bug in Publisher.

In photo - At the left - photo from folder, at the right - photo that i got in Publisher after editing in Photo Persona. When i create photo frame and place in it photo from folder, it works. When i copy this "bug"-photo in new document, it looks correctly. Win 7

Do you have a Publisher document with an image in it? Or have you somehow Opened an image directly in Publisher? That's not how Publisher is normally used, but I can't tell for sure from your description exactly what you've done. Please provide more details.

Also, what kind of changes did you make to the image in the Photo Persona? What is the file type of the image?

Hi @anto,

So that we are able to investigate bugs thoroughly could you please follow this link and update this post with the followings: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/71-bug-reporting/

What more info do you need?

I use win 7 (first my post)

Step-by-step was i did i describe in second post.

I got this bug second time, i have attached second screenshot. When this bug occurs i cannot say. It does not depend on the photo, because in first post i have converted photo in grey profile, in second example, - in cmyk.

I never have this error in 1.9.2

You also didn't answer my question about the document structure, i.e. whether you have a Publisher document with a photo in it, or whether you had Opened an image directly in Publisher. And what kind of image.  And your screenshots don't give the complete context. And the steps you gave don't  cover that.

Here video with steps what i did. There is no bug in video, because error occurs not always.

Thanks. That makes it much clearer.

That indicates to me that you do not have your Preferences (General) set to automatically update linked images that have changed externally. If you had it set, I don't think the Update option would be available in the Resource Manager.

So, as a workaround, perhaps setting that option would help? (I can't be sure, as I do not have the problem you have.)

In my latest example bug - Update button in Resource manager is not active.

I did not change any settings. I had not problem with 1.9.2, and these bugs not for all photos.

Is the document fine if you re-open it? I wonder if it's just very slow to redraw. I don't know how powerful your PC is, but still being on Win7 I assume it's quite old.

My computer not old. Core i5-7500, 24 Gb of memory, Nvidia Geforce 1050TI. I do not need win 10 if win 7 works well.

Hi Anton,

I have found that the problem you have described occurs only if you select 'Edit Image' before applying any modifications. With the 'Edit Image'  option selected any modifications are  then applied to the original image itself and then  saved, overwriting your original image! .

When  I tried this, using Edit Image, then after saving the changes, [to the image not the publication], the image in my document then tends to be partly obscured (as you reported)and Resource Manager then flags up that the embedded linked picture has been modified by an external application but the Update button is greyed out. However, I find that if I close the publication and then re-open it, it will load correctly.

To avoid this, simply open your publication, insert your  picture, change to Photo persona, select the image and instead of clicking on 'Edit image' simply apply changes from the Layers panel.  When you save the publication, the original image will remain unaltered       When you reload the publication at a later date, your original image will be loaded and then the changes automatically applied.

Hope this helps somewhat.

You have a good point, I think, but what you are describing applies to Linked images, not Embedded images.

Hi Walt,

Yes but I was working with Linked images as Anton must have been as  the Edit image option is not available for embedded images and unfortunately wrote embedded in my post.  I will now correct that!
