If you go to Edit - Preferences - General, then tick "Insert filler text as text", it will be inserted as normal, editable, text.

(It's also possible to set your own filler text, rather than lorum ipsum, if you want to. "Alice in Wonderland" seems quite popular!)

I could be wrong but I think setting your own filler text is supported only in Affinity Publisher. At least I could not find any way to do that in AD or AP.

In Designer, it was possible to insert an "Alice in Wonderland" filler text by holding down the "Shift" key while clicking on "Insert Filler Text" but this possibility seems to have been removed in one of the last updates.

IIRC, they said it was removed because it was causing some unspecified problems with text in AD.

Thanks for the clarification, I was not aware of the reason for the deletion.

I don't think they ever said exactly what the problem was, just something (I think) to do with text.

But whatever the problem is or was, it seems odd that it is available in Affinity Publisher since it does not seem to be a problem in that app.

If this possibility still exists in Publisher, I have not been able to implement it with the "Shift" key, there may be another way.

I don't know if there is a Shift key alternative in APub, just that there is a Filler Text preference where an alternative to lorum ipsum can be set, & the usual "Insert filler text as text" option in Preferences > General.

I think the Shift key to enable alternate text was removed in all the applications. They said something about a shortcut conflict.

Only Publisher allows user-specified Filler Text, via the Preferences.

Thanks! That makes more sense than some kind of problem with the filler text itself.
