howdytom
Affinity Photo 1.10.1 shows random black-white background distortion when I apply a Gaussian Blur to a PNG with alpha mask. I have attached a screen recording. It's happening on macOS 10.14.6, Affinity Photo 1.10.1 Steps to reproduce the behavior: Take a screenshot in macOS Open that screenshot.png in Affinity Photo Add Gaussian Blur and change the radius to more 50px
pruus
Click on “preserve alpha” before apply. Chris B and howdytom 1
howdytom
@pruus Thanks, Checking Preserve alpha resolves this issue. However the background distortion still looks weird to me. A white background does make more sense to me.
Staff MEB Posted September 30, 2021 Staff Share Posted September 30, 2021 Hi @howdytom, I'm having trouble reproducing this here. Can you please try doing the same with Metal compute acceleration turned off please (Affinity Photo Preferences, Performance section, bottom checkbox)? Can you also attach your Mac specs (menu Apple > About This Mac, keep the serial number out of the screenshot or delete it). Thank you. howdytom
@MEB When I turn off Metal computer acceleration, the weird background distortion does not occur. I hope this helps. I do not want to disable acceleration. Specs MEB
