Hi,

I'm making the first steps with Affinity Publisher and I watched the official tutorial how to pin picture frames to the text. I'm using the newest version of publisher on a power laptop with an I7 processor and 32 GB RAM.

However when I klick on the pin button the pin is positioned to the top or bottom of the page and can't be moved to the character I want to have it connected with (paragraph level).  In the same moment the pin is activated in some picture frames the picutre contained in the frame disappears.

The pin doesn't react either on any changes made in the pinning studio. I have attached the file and a video to demonstrate the effects. The pictures frames have been multiplied with copy and paste after sizing the first one.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Ruediger

I can confirm this is happening due to the use of 'Filler Text'. When first created in Affinity Publisher, it does not behave like normal text. If you want to move the 'pin' for the images, please select all of the filler text, then right-click and select Expand Field. Your filler text will now behave like normal text, and you should be able to adjust the Pin as expected.

I hope this helps!

Hi,

I have the problem as well with my own text importet from a Word-Document. For privacy reasons I have exchanged the orgiinal text with the filler text. In the origrinal document I don't see an option to select Expand Field.

I checked your advice in the provided document and there the option is avalable. After executing it it looks to me that the pictures have been separated from the pictures frame.

Very strange!

I can confirm that when using non filler text, you won't see the Expand Field option, this only applies for filler text.

Please see my screen recording below showing the 'Pin' working correctly for the picture frame on 'Page 1' -

In regards to page 3, this is happening due to your Master page layout being incorrect. The text frame in the left hand side of the spread is actually nested within the 'Right hand' master page, and when pinning the Picture Frame, this object is then moved 'into' the right hand master layer and hidden from the left hand page.

To fix this, please right-click on the Master A (Right) and select Edit Detached. You can now 'drag' this text frame out from this Master page, and select 'Finished' just below the context toolbar.

Now repeat the above step for the Master A (Left) and 'drag' this text frame into this Master page layer, and once again select 'Finished'.

You should now find you're able to correctly 'pin' these picture frames, without the content disappearing -

If you're still having further issues here, please provide another screen recording detailing this for me. Many thanks :)

This sorted my problem out, thank you. Single pages had been added in various places amongst double-page spreads. I reapplied the spread master to the whole book and pinning worked without the images disappearing.
