Importing svg files, object is changed

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I am attempting to make a geologic map and I wanted to use Affinity Design as an illustrator alternative. However, when I try to import an svg file into AD from Arc, some of my symbols are converted into what appear to be "O"s. Is there anyway I can fix this? I've attached my svg file below. The svg file previews perfectly on my Mac (OS 10.15.7), the only issue is when I load it into AD. I had the same issue in inkscape too.

Also, I'm a beginner when it comes to graphic design/affinity design, so please keep that in mind!

Thanks!

Hello @Kry and welcome to the forums.

This is not an import error. The file contains font information that cannot be read with other programmes. I don't know the Arc programme, but there are certainly settings in the export options to convert text into vector objects.

AI returns the following error message during import:
"The document uses fonts or characters that are not available or are in a different format than originally specified".
