DannyBowen Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 I am trying to create a book with chapters that are grouped together into sections so that the Table of Contents formats properly and both section and chapter names are available for insertion in the footer. In other words, I am wanting to nest sections and sub-sections. Is there a way to do that or is there a workaround? Quote
Dan C Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Hi @DannyBowen, Welcome to the Affinity Forums Our apologies for the delayed response here! Unfortunately I'm not 100% certain what you mean by this, could you please expand on what you're hoping to achieve? I have found that 'sub-sections' are referred to on the Adobe support forums for InDesign, but these refer mostly to Text Styles, which you can use in Affinity either within your Sections, or within a TOC. Many thanks in advance! Quote

If you are talking about something like ... oh hell Lord of the Rings with its 6 books divided into chapters then yes. Book 1 Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Book 2 Chapter 1 Chapter 2 What you need to do is set up two Paragraph Styles Book Name and Chapter Name then you can add both of them to the ToC. Be careful not to use the Book Name as a Paragraph style for a running header or you'll wind up with a listing in the ToC for every single page with that running header.
