Jason227 Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Running Affinity Photo ver 1.10.1.1142 Windows 10. It crashes, constantly. HELP.. Quote
Jason227 Posted September 22, 2021 Author Posted September 22, 2021 Thank you in advance for any and all assistance!! Quote
Tubor Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 I also encountered the same problem as you, it is very easy to crash, whether it is from loading a picture, creating a new pasteboard, or adding effects, it can make the photo crash. Alasdair Gillespie 1 Quote
Tubor Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 This problem has never happened before the .10 version, and the crash problem has continued to occur since the update, even though the .10 version has been updated once. Quote

Dan C Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Hi @Jason227 & @Tubor, As well as providing crash reports, can you please confirm the following for me, so that I can assist further: Are you using Windows or Mac? (I can see you've answered this in your first post Jason ) Does this crash happen with any document, or only specific ones? When the app crashes, do you see any error messages appear on screen? Many thanks in advance! Quote

I've recently seen a separate report from another user who was experiencing crashing with SLI enabled. Can you please open Affinity and navigate to Edit > Preferences > Performance and provide a screenshot of your settings here for me? Quote

Without using SLI technology, they are all independent of each other. I tried to set one of them for use, but it still crashed. Quote

Can you please try unticking Hardware Acceleration at the bottom of this dialog, then restart the app as prompted and try editing your document/image once more. Does thsi reduce the crashing behaviour you're seeing please? Quote

Jason227 Posted September 23, 2021 Author Posted September 23, 2021 I unticked the Hardware acceleration. We'll see what happens. Quote
Dan C Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Thanks for letting me know! It would appear as though the app isn't creating crash reports for this issue - however I can see from your Preferences screenshot that Affinity has access to 2 GPUs that support OpenCL Hardware Acceleration, and this has been found to cause conflicts in the past. I suspect you should see this crashing/freezing drastically reduced with this option disabled, but please do keep us updated Quote

Ian R Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Same issue here... many crashes per session. I have also unticked Hardware acceleration and will report back to see how it performs. FYI I can't generate a crash report as it freezes completely and I have to kill it. Crash reports don't generate. Quote
