hynekp Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Affinity Publisher 1.10.1 keeps crashing, I had to downgrade to 1.9.2. Are you using the latest release version? Yes, I was. Can you reproduce it? I can't, sorry. Does it happen for a new document? If not can you upload a document that shows the problem? The software crashes randomly: After working with an existing document for a while. After creating a new document, importing an image and trying to resize it. Also right after launching the software without any open document. If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following: What is your operating system and version - Windows 7 (I know...) Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? - it is OFF What happened for you (and what you expected to happen) - the software crashed unpredictably too many times Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did). - see above Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video. - no screenshots, sorry, but I'm uploading several crash reports Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) - a wide-screen monitor Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware) - I didn't change anything. 1.9.2 works fine. crash_reports.zip Quote
Staff Gabe Posted September 28, 2021 Staff Posted September 28, 2021 Hi @hynekp, All your crash reports are using nativeImage, and we can't really see what's going on. Can you try and follow Sean's reply here and attach the new reports? Quote
hynekp Posted October 13, 2021 Author Posted October 13, 2021 @Gabe, I reinstalled Publisher 1.10.1 and added <ZapDisable enabled="1" /> in the config file. Publisher was stable for several days. Today it keeps crashing in the Export Settings dialog (open a file, select File > Export, click on the Area list box on the PDF tab, crash). I'm attaching three crash reports. This could be a different problem than before. crash_reports_211013.zip Quote
Staff Gabe Posted October 13, 2021 Staff Posted October 13, 2021 They still seem to use native Images for some reason. Can you attach the .config file? Regardless, what you see now it's probably unrelated to the random ones because you can replicate it. Any chance you can upload that document that crashed on PDF export using this link? https://www.dropbox.com/request/1VoELABGKP2Th5wRcDuR Quote
hynekp Posted October 13, 2021 Author Posted October 13, 2021 Here's the config file. And another crash report. This time Publisher crashed when I opened the Resource Manager. The document in question contains several linked files (that's why I opened the Resource Manager). I assume I should upload them too? Staff Gabe Posted October 14, 2021 Staff Posted October 14, 2021 Oh, I see what's happened here. I should have been more clear. You need to do the ZapDisable on the .config file of the app that's crashing. Doing in on Designer will only generate proper reports if designer crashes. It's a "per app" change that needs to be done. Quote
hynekp Posted October 18, 2021 Author Posted October 18, 2021 @Gabe, sorry, my mistake. Here's a fresh crash report for Publisher, now with the correctly updated config file. This time Publisher crashed on launch. (It worked fine an hour ago.) I'm having the same problem with Photo:https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/151070-photo-1101-crashes-randomly/ 5175d538-1fe7-47bf-9106-2c21c318d09e.dmp Quote
Staff Gabe Posted October 18, 2021 Staff Posted October 18, 2021 It is crashing in a Windows DLL. Is your windows version up to date? Quote
hynekp Posted October 18, 2021 Author Posted October 18, 2021 I still use Windows 7, which is no longer updated. Which DLL is it? Quote
Staff Gabe Posted October 18, 2021 Staff Posted October 18, 2021 It is in KERNELBASE.dll I know Windows7 is no longer updated, but we are aware of an issue where the apps would crash on run-up if you don't have the latest version will all the updates installed. You could check the Event Viewer and see what's in there, but if it's what I think it is it will reference a .NET crash. We did replicate the issue, but updating to the latest possible version fixed the crash. Quote
