Dan C Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Hi @serif from, Welcome to the Affinity Forums Sorry to hear you're having trouble! Can you please provide a screenshot of the error message you're seeing for me? It may be OpenCL Hardware Acceleration causing this issue for you, so we can try disabling this feature before re-opening the app. Please visit the below link and download the 'Affinity OpenCL disabler' ZIP file - Extract the ZIP folder and run the .EXE, then click on the Affinity Photo logo until you see the 'red x' over the logo, to indicate that this feature has been disabled. Now, try relaunching the Affinity app, does this stop the crashing for you please? Quote

Dan C Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Thank you for confirming that for me - this means the app is not reaching the stage of creating these files before crashing, which could indicate an issue with your installed .NET version, or could be caused by a known incompatibility between Affinity and certain third party apps. You should find the app is hopefully creating crash reports, which will help us to better understand the exact cause of this. Can you please open Windows Run (Windows Key + R) then paste the following string and press OK: %APPDATA%\Affinity\Photo\1.0\CrashReports\reports In the window that opens, please select 2 the most recently created .DMP files, then attach these to your reply here. Many thanks in advance! Quote
Dan C Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Thanks for letting me know - could you please provide me with a screenshot showing the error message you are seeing when opening the Affinity app, and a second screenshot showing the error message you see when trying to find the above folder? If you're unsure how to take a screenshot, please check out the link below - Many thanks once again Quote
Guest Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 (edited) here is the screenshot And i use windows 7 Edited September 22, 2021 by Guest Quote
Dan C Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Many thanks for the screenshot and further information provided! I can confirm there is a known issue on Windows 7 that can cause crashing on launch, if you do not have the required Windows updates installed. Please visit the below link to download this update, once you have installed this and restarted your PC, you should see that new updates are available to download and install through Windows Settings, some of which will likely be for .NET. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/windows-update-client-for-windows-7-june-2015-aeb814be-cb33-e8fb-fb68-5f7bd4408833 Please install the updates that are awaiting within Windows settings, restart your PC and try launching the Affinity apps once more. Does this stop the apps from crashing for you please? Quote

Dan C Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Thanks for letting me know - after installing the update from the above link, do you have new updates pending within Windows settings? Could you please provide a screenshot showing the Windows update dialog? This should look similar to the below on Windows 7 - Quote
Guest Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 sorry this is my brother computer i cant install windows update Quote
Dan C Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Thanks for confirming that. Unfortunately these updates are required to use Affinity on Windows 7, so I recommend getting your brother to install these updates to stop the Affinity app from crashing, as there is no other known workaround to stop this issue, without installing the update, my apologies.
