chrisbuh Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 I am running latest version and I just did a windows 10 cumulative update. What I first saw was that image noise reduction or sharpening with selecting full image did not work. So I first ran repair on the installation and had no change. I then unistalled and reinstalled Affinity. Now on the first image in jpeg I can select the image and do noise and sharpening. After I finish with that image the next image I open the functions do not work. I need to close out Affinity and reopen it, then opem the next image and all works again. Quote
Ron P. Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Welcome to the forums @chrisbuh They seem to be working fine for me. I've test this using both the destructive and Live filters. When you're applying the filters are you viewing at 100% ? Affinity uses Mipmaps, for performance of the apps. So adjustments and filters need to be viewed at 100% to see the actual changes. Have you tried making drastic adjustments just to see if they are being applied? Move the sliders to the extreme, this will show if the filter/adjustment is being applied or not. Are you using the Destructive Filters, (Filters>Denoise, or Filter>Unsharp Mask, HighPass, ect.. ) or the Live Filters? Take an image that clearly shows a lot of noise, zoom into 100%, then apply the Denoise Filter. Adjust so the image looks blurry, then gradually back it off, until it's just slightly blurry. Or you can approach it from the opposite end of the spectrum, starting from 0% and gradually increase until the area starts to blur. When you return to where you can see all the image, it may seem that the filter was not applied. This is due to the Mipmaps being used. Unless you need to apply a drastic amount, subtlety is always the better approach for improving/enhancing images.
