Borders With Drop Shadows

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I need help with FX and dropping shadows, I can't figure it out for the life of me. Here are my steps;

I'm trying to add shadow to my photograph with FX function.

1. I upload a photograph

2. Add new layer fill

3. Drag the layer fill below the photograph

4. Next I go to Documents - Resize Canvas- Input my values

5. Next I select the photograph

6. Next I click on FX and a box comes up and this is where in trouble.

The FX box does not look right for one, and when I select outer shadow or any function and slide the value the  gaussian blur selects automatically and blurs the photo.

Thank you in advance.

I'm confused, in the video you have the Gaussian Blur selected in the FX.  So the blur should be changed when the slider is moved.  If you select the Outer Shadow, you would have other sliders shown.  Then you should be able to change the Outer Shadow.

Ticking the option for Outer Shadow does not automatically select it, you have to click on the name to actually select it, gaussian blur is selected by default and that is why you are inadvertently applying gaussian blur. Likewise selecting the name doesn't automatically activate the fx you have to edit the sliders before it will activate/apply a tick in the checkbox.

Thank you, I will give it a shot. I'm totally new to the software learning as I go.
