titch Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 I am using the burn brush tool and as per the manual if I hit the shift button I can see the before and after effects. But it does not work. Has it been changed? Quote

Please tell us where you found that. I do not see that with a quick look at the Help. Yes you are right Alfred, I did not see that it switched to iPhoto. I found out that I can see the before and after image by moving the slider on History back to zero and back to current location. All steps, which have been done with the tool last used? All steps done since the image was loaded? As for latter, use ALT/Option click on the layer with the original image on it (it's always a good idea to keep a copy of an image untouched on a layer). This will show only that original image, clicking outside will show the active edits. For one or more steps in a non-destructive workflow (which should be aimed for in general), it should be possible to see the before/after edits by just disabling/enabling a layer or multiple (grouped) layers. Fixx Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Before/after in filters, both destructive and layer ones. Quote

How about just using Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y, or for filter layers untick / tick on the layer? For live filters, you can toggle their visibility in the Layers panel. This can be done at any time, not just when applying the live filter. For most but not all destructive filters, there are two options to display before & after views simultaneously via split or mirror view. Only the destructive filters that do not open their own windows (as indicated by the lack of the ... following their names) do not have those options. Good day, Good question and thanks for the Alt + Layer shortcut, I learnt something new. For me, I think if it were possible to "bookmark" a place in History, that would help cater to any scenario a user may have. That way, a user can self-define what their "Before" is and then toggle back and forth between the bookmarked position and the "Current". Kind regards, Quote
