holmenshavn Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Hi – I'm new on the forum, but I've been using all three Affinity apps for a while, Publisher since it first came out. In almost all respects I am thoroughly impressed by the quality of the software. I've been having trouble with moderately large files, though, which haven't eased with the latest updates. These are simple documents: anywhere from 50-300 pages, all in the same format, one linked image per page + haphazard text, mostly minor. All images are linked, none embedded, all JPG, each below 5Mb. I use filter layers, mostly a single curves layer, sometimes two curves + b/w, in no case more than three in a stack. Upon opening a file, sometimes Publisher, on an M1 Macbook Pro, simply crashes. This can also happen while scrolling, and it did happen on my earlier Intel MacBook Pro as well. At other times, however, and more frequently, loading a file doesn't cause a crash but simply takes forever. Or abnormally long, in any case. Anywhere from a couple of minutes to 10, 15 or more, at which point I normally give up and rather create a new file from scratch. Even if basically identical in terms of form and content, this does often solve the problem. But the whole procedure is consuming way more time than I would prefer. Do others share a similar experience? Is a solution already around the corner? Best wishes, H. Quote
Staff Pauls Posted September 17, 2021 Staff Posted September 17, 2021 One thing that can cause slowdowns is vector objects with lots(thousands) of nodes. Please use this link to upload a problematic file as a package and any crash reports you may have Quote
