I have a font I routinely use and after my update from 1.9.x to 1.10.1.1142 the font no longer appears in my list of fonts. I can see that the font is still installed and I can use it across the Office suite. I have tried a reboot. Tons of other fonts are missing too. How do I proceed?

I assume you are talking about the Avenir Next LT Pro fonts.
Based on the presence of Avenir Next LT Pro Demi it appears you have the full commercial family installed.
A smaller family is available via the Office 365 cloud fonts (which I can see you have access to) which does not have the Demi font.
So I am wondering if you accidentally installed the fonts from the cloud too?

That can cause font to disappear from the Affinity font lists as when it gets confused it may show nothing.
Of if the Office 365 cloud fonts connection itself is confusing the Affinity apps.

I have the full Avenir Next LT Pro family installed and have no issues in ADesigner v1.10.1.1142.

But I do not have (or allow) any cloud access (to mess things up).

Can you please list the other specific fonts which are missing?
So we can see if there is some overlap with the available 365 cloud fonts.

Photo works fine ... I consider it a Font Cache problem, but how to solve?

Please stop posting off-topic nonsense in this discussion.
Go post in the correct forum, for the correct application, and the correct operating system.
And post actual useful specific information, not useless "it don't work" me-too posts.

I am not posting off-topic nonsense, @LibreTraining, I have exactly the same problem: some fonts activated with an external font manager or just installed to the OS font library suddenly don't appear in Designers font menu. They appear in Photo's font menu during the same session. So pls try to be helpful, not rude ;)

The macOS font manager is completely different from how it all works on Windows.
That is why there are separate forums for the different operating systems.

Hi Joshua Gordon,

It sounds as though you're looking at the Cloud fonts included as part of Office 365 - these fonts are only usable within the MS Office suite and cannot be used in external applications.

Though as LibreTraining says you do have the Demi font available which doesn't appear to be included as part of the Office 365 Cloud Fonts. Did you install all of these by selecting them in Office, or did you purchase these separately and have the external OTF/TTF files for the fonts?

EDIT: I see you also have the Abadi and Aharoni fonts that are not showing - these are also part of the Office 365 Cloud Fonts so are expected not to appear to it definitely sounds like that is the reason for the other fonts not being visible.

Hi fixielanes

Your problem does indeed sound different to the issue Joshua is having (given that you're finding one works in Photo and are using macOS with an external font manager). It would be much more helpful to create a new post in the correct forum for the OS you're using and post as much information about the problem you're having. For example you don't say which fonts are not showing up, how they're installed on your system, what font manager you're using etc.

It also avoids having two separate threads of conversations running parallel in a single forum thread.

The Microsoft Office Cloud Fonts are all created in variable font format and cannot be used in Affinity programmes at the moment anyway, as there is no support for variable font format in the programmes yet.

And the cloud fonts are in a separate cache that only MS Office programmes have access to.

Correction: Not all fonts are in variable font format.

I am wondering if MS is disabling actually installed fonts which are present in the Cloud fonts.
To force people to transition to the cloud (currently Win11 has far fewer fonts actually installed).
Aharoni Bold may be installed directly as it is a part of the Hebrew Supplemental Fonts package.
But I am not aware of any Windows app that installs Abadi.
(MS Office on Mac installs a couple Abadi condensed versions.)

Did Microsoft mistakenly disable these fonts because the same family is present in the cloud fonts?
Or, is Affinity just seeing it in both places and getting confused and displaying nothing?
This has happened before when a user has duplicate fonts installed (as system and user, etc.).
I can send you the fonts if you want to test.

I am sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone. I am not sure why but my entire personal font library was wiped out. Fortunately I save the original font files in one place so it was easy to get them all installed. I did not know MS had added Avenir font to their cloud font offerings. That explains why Avenir went missing in Designer but was still available in Word. Now to figure out why all of my fonts were wiped...

Thanks to everyone who helped with this and offered suggestions. It helped point me down the right path and explained somethings I wouldn't have otherwise understood.
