The0 Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Once I have an image inside some text, how do you drag the image around inside that text to position it without the text moving on the canvas? As the text is the child layer of the image this can moved independently from the image but not the other way around it seems. The only way I can achieve this at the mo is to keep reordering layers to make the image independent from the text. Thanks in advance. Quote MacBook Pro 2.9GHz, 16GB, 4GB GPU, macOS 12.
Old Bruce Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 I think this is what you have: This is what you want to do: Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
The0 Posted September 16, 2021 Author Posted September 16, 2021 This is what I have. The Background (Pixel) layer is what I’m concerned with. It looks like I need a duplicate image layer? Quote MacBook Pro 2.9GHz, 16GB, 4GB GPU, macOS 12.
Old Bruce Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Your 220 (Group) needs to be outside and the Background (pixel) needs to be inside that 220 (Group) Something like this. I am not sure why you have the Background Curves (Group) masking the other stuff. The0 Posted September 16, 2021 Author Posted September 16, 2021 Awesome, thanks so much for clarifying. The top right corner of the image is a black curve, the same as the bottom left green curve you see. The image is large to get what I want and extends beyond the green and black logo so I’ve needed to mask the image to get the curved corners. Quote MacBook Pro 2.9GHz, 16GB, 4GB GPU, macOS 12.

I am not sure why you have the Background Curves (Group) masking the other stuff. Thanks, I understand layer hierarchy in principle. I think this is the simplest way of explaining things with the attached image (I was given this Illustrator logo file btw). As you can see, I can now achieve what I want (to make the image the child layer in the text) but I can't apply it to more than one letter now even if I further group the curves. What am I missing? The only way I can apply it to all letters as in your example above is to rasterise the 220° group layer. Starting a document from scratch I can replicate what you have above. Old Bruce Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Couple of things, you'll have to make one Curves layer out of the 2 2 0 0 (Zeros or Ohs). Because the Ohs are already Curves layers you will have to change the Fill mode to Alternate (Even-Odd) or Winding (Non-Zero) after you have made the 22oO Curves layer. Layer > Fill Mode > ... Now you can do the move. The0 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. The0 Posted September 16, 2021 Author Posted September 16, 2021 You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Thanks so much for your help. I had a feeling it would have something to do the curves layers. Quote MacBook Pro 2.9GHz, 16GB, 4GB GPU, macOS 12.
Old Bruce Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Far too often I get caught out doing the wrong thing for what I want to achieve. Far too often. I should know this stuff by now...
