Wayward Cat Publishing
This is a major flaw. I write and publish novels. I write in a writing program and edit it Word. When I paste my Word doc into Affinity Publisher, all of my italics are lost. Can you imagine what a headache it is for me to scan a 400-page novel in Word for every italicized word and then find it in Affinity Publisher? I might as well go back to formatting in Word. Wayward Cat Publishing
And yet, just now, while working on a new book in Affinity, I was able to copy and paste while keeping the italics. It must be something in Word and not Affinity. If anyone knows what's going on with this, let me know.
William Overington
Rather than copy and paste, would it help if you saved from Word to a file then imported the file into Affinity Publisher. I don't have Word on this computer to try it here, all I can do is suggest the idea as a possibility. I have just looked at the Affinity Publisher help and by searching for import and it appears that you can import a .docx file into Affinity Publisher but that you cannot write to a .docx file from Affinity Publisher, but it appears that you do not need to be able to write to a .docx from Affinity Publisher so no problem. I hope that this helps. William Quote Until December 2022, using a Lenovo laptop running Windows 10 in England. From January 2023, using an HP laptop running Windows 11 in England. Komatös
Hello @Wayward Cat Publishing welcome to the forums. As written before, you can place a word document w/o copy & paste! Save your Word doc as docx, Make a Masterpage with text frames. Double click on the first dokument page and choose place in the file menu. The help file will tell you more. Wayward Cat Publishing
Thank you all so much! I did learn about importing as opposed to copy/paste, but completely forgot about it. I'll try that and the other suggestions. William Overington
