Affinity Photo on iPad not converting Document sizes

Recommended Posts

Running 1.10.1 on my iPad mini.

If I have a document size set to 510px x 510px for example, I can't resize it to mm for example.

1. it simply changes to 510mm x 510mm in the display, and when I press Apply. It crashes the app.

It works fine as it should on the desktop. Just not on the iPad.

I see something similar, but possibly stranger.

I start with a part of a screenshot, 1030 x 1080 px at 96dpi. I use document resize, and switch the units to mm. Before doing anything else, I may see either of these in the context toolbar:

  1. 1030 x 1080 mm; or
  2. 256000 x 256000 mm. If I get this one, the dimension won't fit in the little circle, so it shows as 25...00.0 mm. Note that both show the same value of 25...00.0 even though the image is not square. If I click on the first circle, it shows 256000 in a little number pad dialog. And when I click OK, the circle still shows 25...00.0 mm. However, if I click on the second circle, then OK, the first circle changes to 24...48.1 mm, and clicking on it shows 244148.1.

Clearly, neither of those behaviors is correct, and #2 is really weird.

I just tried this with an unconstrained part of a screenshot that happened to be 1609 px × 706 px at 96dpi. Switching the units to mm still gave me 1609 × 706; switching back to px gave me 25744 × 11296, at which point the app froze.

Hi all,

I could not replicate the crash, but I could replicate the units changing. It seems to happen when you have the pop-up panel opened and use the bottom arrows. Issue logged.

I was using a large project. Lot of layers etc. But good, glad I’m not the only one.

It could well be related to that large document. Even on an 1000 x 1000 doc, it will max out the units. So it might have crashed during that process.

I think there’s more to it than that. A pixel is a pixel, independent of the output resolution.

25744 is 1609 × 16, and likewise 11296 is 706 × 16. There are 25.4 mm to the inch, not 16 mm to the inch, so it seems clear that something else is going on here.
