Copying or Selecting Text from a PDF Made with Affinity Publisher

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

How can I export my PDF so that anyone can select or copy the text from a PDF made with Affinity?

Right now, no text can be selected. The text is not rasterized. I read on here that it was an issue with Macs but I checked on my phone and can confirm, the text is not selectable.

I have selected Text as Curves during the Export because otherwise the PDF loses all the styling.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums.

Using "Text as Curves" is your problem. It is no longer text, and thus cannot be selected.

You need to figure out why you're losing the styling. If you can show us some pictures, and give us a sample .afpub file, and an exported PDF, and show us the Export options you're using (including the "More..." dialog) we can probably help.

Thank you so much Walt for your reply and your help. I was thinking that might be the problem and you're right, I just exported with All Fonts selected instead of Text as Curves and am able to now select and copy the text from the PDF.

The issue is now how to get the font to "stay" as it looks on Affinity.

I've attached an affinity file and then how it looks when I export it without selecting "Text as Curves." I just used the default export settings for PDF - Digital (high quality).

If you are someone here would be able to take a look, I'd be most grateful. Thank you!
