Publisher - Can I "reuse" a page hyperlink on/from multiple pages?

Recommended Posts

I'm brand new to hyperlinking pages.  Let's say I have a home page (p. 1), and from p. 2 I've inserted a hyperlink back to the home page.  If I want to insert a hyperlink back to the home page from a page other than p. 2 (say p. 10), do I need to make a new one from there, or can I "reuse" the one I created from p. 2?  In other words, can I use one hyperlink to a particular place from multiple other places (and if so, how do I do this?), or do I need unique hyperlinks from each place back to the one place I want to go?  I hope that makes sense...

Thanks,

Gayle

Hello @GoGayleGo, welcome to the forums.

It is quite simple whether you want to jump from page 2 or page 10 back to the first page, the linking remains the same because the jump target does not change. So you can use the link as often as you like.

But you need to insert a new link to the target page, don't you? You can have as many links to something as you'd like, but each link is unique.

Thanks Walt, you articulated what I was getting at much better than I did!

Is a hyperlink TO a target, or is it unique between the source and target?

For now, I have a unique hyperlink from each page to the given target, but am always looking to be most efficient.

A hyperlink is unique. Many hyperlinks can point to the same anchor.

If your "hyperlink" is a graphic of some sort (I used a simple Rectangle) and it is pointing to page 1 then you can just copy that graphic and paste it wherever you want and the pasted copies will all point to page 1.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.2
Affinity Designer 2.3.1 | Affinity Photo 2.3.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.3.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Actually, my hyperlink *is* a graphic (also a rectangle) - so this should work well for me!
