NBAL22
Hello there, My colleague and I have each a license of Affinity Designer. We both installed a font called trixie and courrier new. When I prepare a file and she opens it, the font is not recognized (font trixie is in parentheses) and the same, if she makes changes in the same file, when I open, all fonts are wrong with trixie in parentheses. Would anyone recognize this problem and help us fix it? Thanks !
Komatös
Hello @NBAL22 and welcome to the forums. Are you shure you and your colleague use really the same font? I mean there are various versions in the wild. Staff Dan C Posted September 8, 2021 Staff Share Posted September 8, 2021 Hi @NBAL22, Welcome to the Affinity Forums As Komatos has mentioned, there is a possibility that these fonts are not identical between the two machines - are you able to upload a copy of the installed fonts from both machines, so we can double check this for you? Many thanks in advance!

Do Affinity apps even support this kind of fonts? Create date: September13, 1955 (someone is being cute) Adopy copyright date is 1989. Easy to convert to OTF in TransType. Quote Akzidenz-Grotesk® Pro+ (WGL)Berthold first published Akzidenz-Grotesk in 1898. Originally named “Accidenz-Grotesk” the design originates from Royal Grotesk light by royal type-cutter Ferdinand Theinhardt. The Theinhardt foundry later merged with Berthold and also supplied the regular, medium and bold weights. In the 1950s Günter Gerhard Lange, then art director at Berthold, began a project to enlarge the typeface family, adding a larger character set, but retaining all of the idiosyncrasies of the 1898 face. Under the direction of Günter Gerhard Lange, Berthold added AG Medium Italic (1963), AG ExtraBold (1966) , AG Italic (1967), AG ExtraBold Condensed & Italic (1968), AG Super (1968). Lange was instrumental in developing the Akzidenz-Grotesk program at Berthold in the 1950s and 1960s. In 2001 Lange helped Berthold complete the AG series with the additions of AG light italic, Super Italic, light condensed, condensed, medium condensed, extrabold italic, light extended italic, extended italic and medium extended italic. These do appear to have been made for Adobe by Berthold, so maybe the Sept. 13, 1955 date is actually when they made this particular updated family. That appears to jive with the dates in the quote. And then it was digitized later (~1989).

So I am not sure Affinity apps would actually support that format. FontExplorer X and the Mac font manager (which is used in all Mac apps including Affinity apps) may be able to display those fonts in a list, but the Affinity apps may not support that format. So that may be what is confusing.

I assume you are using a newer system - perhaps support for that type of font was dropped. Note: those are not regular PS Type-1 fonts they are even older. But they are PS outlines. Both TransType and FontLab can open them just fine. Took about two minutes in TransType to convert them to OTF.
