Affinity Photo imports and "Places" my color images as black and white

Recommended Posts

Hi

I don't know if this is a bug or not. But I noticed in working with AP 1.10 and 1.10.1 that when I use the "File>Place" feature to import a color photo into a project, it automatically gets converted to black and white. But, if I simply select File>Open, then the color photo will load just fine. How do I correct this? Did I inadvertently change a setting?

Please advise as to how to correct.

Thanks,

Michael

Is the document where you want to place the image perhaps in colour format Grayscale? If possible could upload a screen recording of what you are doing or show a screenshot of your Layers panel?

Hi

Thanks for taking a look. Here is a screen recording of what I was trying to do. I've also attached the two files. My objective is to simulate the look of gmail on the laptop png file that I got from Pixabay. I guess it's a vector file. In any event, I'd like images I add to the laptop screen to be in color. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

I suppose, you opened the Laptop-image in Photo and placed the GMail-image into it. But the Laptop-image is in greyscales, as you can see in the channels panel. So also the the GMail-image will be in greyscales if you place it in it. Convert the opened Laptop-Image to RGB and place the GMail-image then.

Hi thanks....how do I go about converting the laptop image to RGB?

Sorry, I'm new to Affinity

Open the Document menu and click on Convert Format/ICC Profile. Choose RGB/8 from the Format menu and click Convert.

Edit: For use on the web, the RGB-profile should be sRGB. I suppose it will be defined basically. But to be on the safe side.
