Paint brush and masks

Recommended Posts

I'm following an exercise regarding affinity masks in Robin Walley's Essential Affinity Photo book. However, when I select the paint brush to either paint white or black I get a red line from the brush circle to a cross. When I drag the brush the effect is occurring at the cross at the end of the line and not at the brush circle. How do I get rid of this line and cross so that I just have the brush circle? Have I not selected something correctly in the top Access tool bar? I'm using W10 PC.

It sounds like you have the Stabilizer option checked in the context toolbar. Remove the checkmark to get rid of the red line & x.

See also the Settings section in the https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/pages/Tools/tools_paintBrush.html help topic for more about the stabilizer & other context toolbar options.
