Moa
I had a afpub file and last night when I tried to open it in Aff.Publisher (windows) I got the message "The file type is not supported". It was saved in the same version of the program I had, and today I tried both restarting my computer and updating the software and I still get the same message. It doesn't matter if I use the copy of the file that was on the computer or the usb-disc. What can I do to fix it? walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @Moa. Sometimes such files can be recovered, but sometimes not. If you look at the folder in Windows File Explorer, what is the file size? If it's 0 KB, the file is not recoverable. If it's a reasonable size, it may be recoverable. There are some users here who have success recovering them, if you're willing to upload your file here for us all to see. If you're not willing to upload it here, then a Serif staff member can provide a private upload link so only they can see the file. Moa
Thank you for your answer! Unfortunately I see it is 0 kb so I guess I'll have to redo it. Just for future reference, does anyone know what causes this and how to avoid it? Or maybe can explain how one can try to recover it if it is >0kb? Recovery attempts by forum users often seem to involve creating a new document, then trying to use Document > Add Pages From File and/or File > Place to figure out where the problem occurs and recover as much as possible.
