I know this request has been made regularly going back years.

What is the latest from Affinity on a bitmap to vector tracer. 

I would request Affinity look at this online tool https://www.vectorizer.io because it demonstrates both simplicity of use, but also providing a good amount of customisation of the tracing process.

If you know that this has been requested many times before, why have you created a new thread about it?
If you want to add your ‘voice’ to an existing request all you need to do is add a post to that existing thread.

Note: Serif don’t tell us about their future plans, for good reasons.
Note: I’m pretty sure that the Serif staff will have a pretty good idea of what other software is available in their area of business.
