Windosw will not allow Affitinty photo to update.

Recommended Posts

Windows is not allowing this program to update. I tried a few things, even uninstalling and reinstall the updated version but not It won't install either. Wonderful!

I get:  Alert, Windows protected your PC. Microsoft defender Smart-screen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.

I click run anyway and get " The application has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."

I can confirm the 'Side-by-side' error you're seeing usually indicates that the downloaded file is partly missing or corrupted and is caused by something specific to your local Windows user account.
We aren't sure of the exact corruption or missing certificate that causes this issue, however we have regularly found that you can resolve this issue by downloading the latest update file on a DIFFERENT PC.

Once downloaded, you can then use a USB stick or similar to transfer the update file to your Windows PC, where this should hopefully install as expected!
If you don't have a second computer, I've also seen reports of this working by downloading the file to a tablet or mobile phone, then connecting this to the PC with a data cable to transfer the file across.

Should the above not help resolve the issue, or you don't have a second device to try downloading to, can you please try downloading a new version of the installer file from the below link in a different web browser from your default one and let me know if this can be installed correctly?

If all of the above fails, please see the following link with instructions on how to potentially resolve the download issue with your Windows user login -

Please do let me know if this helps!
