’Save As…’ is only for saving to the native Affinity format. You need to use the ‘Export’ command.

Thank you for that.  You have probably guessed that I'm new to using this software.

Another thing I can't understand is that when I use Affinity on a Tiff image and then re-save is as a Tiff file it won't then open up the image in my Canon ZoomBrowser program.  Is this something that I can easily fix?

Click the More button and check the compression,  Photo defaults to zip and your software may not like that, try None

TIFF files exported from the Affinity applications are compressed by default, possibly using a form of compression not supported by your other application. You can change that using the More... button in the Export dialog.
