Affinity 1.9.1

I cannot find any menu entry to enable visibility of things like "hard return", "soft return", "word spaces", etc. I can't find anything in the Text menu remotely related to invisible/hidden/special characters. Please help...

The ‘Show Special Characters’ feature is currently only available in Publisher.

What a drag that the code wasn't just put into designer as well. . .  I do a lot of single-sheet jobs that are text-heavy.

Do you have Publisher? If so it's easy to do those jobs there, too. And you get all the other text-related additions that way, too.

Would be nice to have this also as a keyboard short cut since it is something I like to check on a regular bases. To turn invisibles on and off. Thank you.

Assuming you are talking about "Text > Show Special Characters" just set up a keyboard shortcut in Preferences. (I use Alt+s)

Because the keyboard shortcut preferences are organized like they are on the application menu, you will find the place to set this near the bottom of the Publisher > Text menu subcategory:
